The NFL returns to Amazon Prime Video this week with the “Thursday Night Football” matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams. As Amazon gets set to kick off its fifth season of streaming the action, the company shared details about what to expect.

This will be the final season of the NFL’s existing “tri-cast” model of broadcasting “TNF.” Next season, Prime Video will be the exclusive home for 15 games on Thursdays, thanks to a deal that Amazon reached with the NFL earlier this year.

Prime coverage this season includes 12 games and a Wild Card playoff game in January.

Broadcast duo Andrea Kremer and Hannah Storm are calling the action for the fourth consecutive season on Prime Video. But fans can use the settings on Prime to switch between announcer experiences on both Prime and Amazon-owned Twitch.

New this season is player tracking, an AI-driven feature that highlights and follows the ballcarrier throughout the play, showing fans how the action developed in real time. X-Ray is available for fans streaming ‘TNF’ on web, Android, iOS, and Fire TV.

Prime Video is also bringing back additional programming on Twitch throughout the week that allows streaming viewers to interact through live chat, custom extensions with stats or polls, and more. Shows include:

  • ‘The NFL Comment Box’: Mondays at noon PDT, an Ask Me Anything-style show with future NFL Hall of Fame offensive lineman Joe Thomas and Andrew Hawkins. Includes hot topics from around the league and audience questions about the previous or upcoming weeks.

“Thursday Night Football” games will still be available beyond streaming this season, on FOX and NFL Network. Next season, each “TNF” game will also be televised in the participating teams’ home marketplaces, in keeping with the NFL’s long-standing commitment to make its games available on free, over-the-air television.

Beyond broadcasting, Amazon’s relationship with the NFL extends to the league’s use of Amazon Web Services as its official cloud and machine learning provider. Next Gen Stats provide real-time location, speed, and acceleration data for every player during every play.
